This workshop is accepted by the NZTA as part of the accreditation process for those in the role of Engineers Representative on NZTA projects.
Engineer to the Contract
This more advanced workshop covers the complex dual ‘role’ of the Engineer in the administering contracts let under NZS 3910.
Attendees are recommended to have had some previous training in construction contracts, such as the IPWEA NZ Engineer’s Representative and Contractor’s Representative course, or similar. The subtleties of the role are explored in relation to instructions, interpretation, certification, time, cost and quality decision making and for responses to claims and disputes. Exercises, case studies and a multi-choice test are used to bed in knowledge and to share experiences.
These successful workshops are not just a lecture, throughout the workshop attendees work in groups on practical examples. The format, previously delivered by Andrew Brickell up to his retirement in 2021, has been well received by over many participants from local authority, consultant, contractor and subcontracting organisations.
You will leave this workshop with a good understanding of the topics covered, and comprehensive notes are provided for future reference. Please ensure you register early to avoid disappointment.
